Transparency Statement on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

This Transparency Statement outlines Infrastructure Australia’s approach to adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) aligned with the Australian Government's Policy for the responsible use of AI in government.

Infrastructure Australia recognises that AI has the capacity to assist us in achieving more efficient operations and enhanced data analysis to support the delivery of our work.

In accordance with the Australian Government classification system, we currently use, or are planning to use, AI in our corporate and enabling services domains in the following usage patterns:

When engaging with Infrastructure Australia, you will be interacting with people.

AI will not be used for decision making purposes and all AI outputs will be assessed by our people to ensure accuracy.

Information provided to Infrastructure Australia is handled in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 and Infrastructure Australia policies.

The Chief Digital & Data Officer is the accountable official for AI at Infrastructure Australia and operates within the governance arrangements set out in Infrastructure Australia’s Responsible use of AI policy. This includes monitoring current and emerging systems to ensure AI is used in a safe, ethical and effective way and reporting to our Accountable Authority and independent Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee on a regular basis.

Staff are required to uphold ethical principles and legislative requirements to make sure their use of AI is undertaken responsibly. AI, data and IT policies are available to staff on Infrastructure Australia’s intranet, and staff are required to undergo training prior to using approved AI technologies.
